THE OFFICIAL NUMBERED COLLECTION · 1994–2014
The Murals
Twenty-six commissioned murals turned Twentynine Palms into an open-air history gallery. This collection follows the numbered Oasis of Murals series documented by Action Council for 29 Palms.
Collection note: This site uses the final M01–M26 numbering documented in the 2021 Oasis of Murals brochure. Earlier surviving records sometimes use transitional numbering; those differences are preserved on the relevant exhibit pages rather than silently rewritten. A separate count discrepancy also remains visible in the source record: Action 29 Palms’s current About Us page says the organization has completed 25 murals, while the 2021 brochure and current Visit 29 Palms material document a 26-mural commissioned series through 2014. The City of Twentynine Palms’ January 2026 public-art inventory also lists the historic Oasis murals consecutively from M1 through M26, including works that have since been removed. This archive follows the documented M01–M26 sequence while preserving the current-source disagreement for further research. See Sources & Credits →

A collection with a living history
Some murals remain where they were first painted. Others were removed, replaced, restored, or lost with their buildings. As this archive grows, each mural will receive its own page with photographs, documented history, present status, archival material, and firsthand recollections where available.
