“The Flying Constable” Jack Cones

The Story

Constable Jack Cones served the area from his election in 1932 until his death in 1960. The 2021 brochure records that he patrolled a 2,800-square-mile desert jurisdiction in a Piper J-3 Cub—an extraordinary detail that explains how he earned the nickname “The Flying Constable.”
